HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA – HigherEchelon, Inc. is proud to announce the company is now appraised at level 3 of the CMMI Insititute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). The appraisal was performed by Huntsville-based Cepeda Systems & Software Analysis, Inc.
CMMI is a capability improvement framework that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance.
An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. The organization’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for maturity level 3, is established and improved over time.
“We are extremely proud of our Organizational Effectiveness Team, led by Juliette Foley, and the Quality Management Representatives: Melody Stilwell, Siana Sylvester, Megan Wilton, Vanita Sonnakul, and Derrick Smits,” said co-owners Paul Maggiano and Joe Ross, PhD. “We are thankful for everyone who was involved in the process conducting interviews, who went above and beyond our expectations to drive excellence for successfully passing our CMMI V2.0 Maturity Level (ML) 3 appraisal.”
Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a performance improvement model used to help achieve increasingly better performance and address and solve business challenges. The model is not prescriptive; it describes how to improve capabilities, ultimately leaving it up to leadership as to how to do it in a unique and flexible way.
HigherEchelon, Inc. was first appraised using CMMI V1.3 ML 2 in 2019 and decided to pursue a Maturity Level 3 status (with Supplier Agreement Management) in Q4 FY 2021. Not only did the company advance in level, but also successfully adapted to the newly architected V2.0 model of CMMI.
The CMMI V2.0 ML 3 benchmark appraisal resulted in findings that described the strengths and weaknesses of HigherEchelon, Inc.’s processes, based on evidence the company provided of how three HigherEchelon, Inc. prime government contracts mapped to 20 CMMI model practice areas.
“Ultimately, we left the appraisal with strengths, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities that leave room for growth in FY 2022 and impressively display the sheer amount of progress that has been made in the last three years from an organizational process and performance standpoint,” said Juliette Foley, HigherEchelon Manager of Operational Effectiveness.
