Derrick Smits serves as the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Technology Solutions for HigherEchelon, where he oversees the company’s Enterprise Technology portfolio, client delivery operations, and strategic business development initiatives. Derrick previously supported the Army Cyber School with HigherEchelon as a Unified Land Operations Instructor and Site Lead from 2016–2019.
Derrick brings more than 30 years of professional experience, including over 20 years of leadership and operational experience as an Infantry and Military Intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, as well as more than 10 years leading cyber and enterprise technology initiatives supporting federal clients. His experience includes overseeing large-scale Enterprise Technology delivery efforts for the Department of Veterans Affairs, with a focus on digital transformation, modernization, program execution, and operational excellence across complex federal environments.
Derrick is a 1995 graduate of University of North Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from American Military University and holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
